Tennessee Recruiting: Top targets set to visit Alabama this weekend

Will Alabama rain on Tennessee’s parade?

In what I’m sure is a bizarre feeling, Jeremy Pruitt has gone from helping Alabama win a national championship to actively recruiting against them. Pruitt was tasked with a balancing act throughout the college football playoff, but now he’s all-Tennessee.

We’ve already seen him have some success taking on Saban head to head, landing Dominick Wood-Anderson and getting a commitment from JJ Peterson. Now (and presumably for the next several years) he’s going to have to fend off Saban and company on a regular basis.

That started the second he took the Tennessee job, but it’s amplified this weekend. Alabama is hosting several of Tennessee’s top remaining targets this weekend, making a final push with just a handful of days remaining before national signing day on February 7th.

  • Five star cornerback Olaijah Griffin. USC and Tennessee were described by Griffin as co-leaders after his visit with the Trojans a couple of weeks ago.
  • Five star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart. USC is in play here along with Florida, Texas A&M and Tennessee. He will visit Knoxville next weekend.
  • Four star receiver Jacob Copeland. The former Gator commit seems to be down to Alabama, Tennessee and Florida. He visited Tennessee in mid-December, but will finish his recruitment with a trip to Gainesville next weekend.
  • Eddie Smith was recently upgrade to a four star by 247 Sports. The 6-0 cornerback is taking one final look at Tuscaloosa this weekend as well. Tennessee seems to still be in good shape here as most consider them the leader in the clubhouse at this point. Nick Saban did go in-home with Smith this week, for what it’s worth.

Tennessee commit JJ Peterson and top Tennessee target Quay Walker each took a visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend. The Volunteers have their own star-studded list visiting campus this weekend. We’ll keep you posted on any developments throughout the next couple of days.
