Tennessee Recruiting: Vols offer, set visit date with Under Armour All-American defensive end

Another name to remember.

Jeremy Pruitt may be in the middle of getting his Alabama defense prepared to take on Georgia, but his staff is still putting in the work on the trail. Tennessee has made another 2018 offer to yet another edge rusher. This time it’s three star Caleb Okechukwu.

Finding pass rushers that fit Pruitt’s incoming 3-4 base scheme has been a priority over the last month as he tries to transition this defense from its 4-3 roots. The 6-4, 252 pound Okechukwu fits that bill.

Not only have the Vols extended an offer, but they’ve set up an officially visit as well. According to 247 Sports, that visit will take place on January 26th. That’s just 11 days before the traditional national signing day, for what it’s worth.

Okechukwu is buried in the national recruiting rankings, but he took part in the Under Armour All-America Game last week. He took an official visit to UMass on December 8th, but he has attracted the attention of a few bigger schools since the passing of the early signing period.

Michigan State, Cal and now Tennessee have all joined the party for Okechukwu. This is one name to file away as signing day approaches.
