The SEC announced their preseason voting results on Wednesday morning, with Tennessee basketball players Admiral Schofield and Grant Williams receiving conference praise.

Schofield was selected to preseason Second Team All-SEC and also received votes for SEC Player of the Year. He broke out last year while averaging 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game on his way to a conference second team selection. Schofield tested the NBA waters this offseason, but decided to come back to Tennessee for his Senior season.

Williams was chosen to preseason First Team All-SEC and was picked to repeat as SEC Player of the Year. Williams has been a mainstay in the starting lineup since his freshman year, when he started in 29 games and earned an SEC All-Freshman Team selection.

His sophomore year in 2017-2018 is when he elevated his game to conference player of the year levels. Williams averaged 15.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and just under 2.0 assists per game, while contributing 44 blocks and 21 steals.

Tennessee as a team was voted to finish second in the conference behind the Kentucky Wildcats.

Schofield and Williams were the two biggest factors in Tennessee winning the SEC Championship last year while romping their way to 26-9 overall record. Now the Volunteers return 14 players and get both of their stars back.

The regular season begins on Tuesday, November 6th when the Volunteers host Lenoir Rhyne. Non conference play extends through 2018 and includes one of the tougher slates that Tennessee has matched up against. Their schedule includes games against Gonzaga, Memphis, and Louisville within the same month.
