Line released for Tennessee vs. South Carolina

This line feels too high.

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee has a very important game this weekend as they hit the road and travel to South Carolina to face the Gamecocks. Will Muschamp’s group got the week off, giving them two weeks to prepare for this one.

Muschamp has never lost to Tennessee, but it will be his first time against Jeremy Pruitt. Tennessee took one on the chin at home against Alabama as expected, but they’ve started to show signs of progress. An upset at Auburn opened some eyes after a decent showing on the road against Georgia. Now the second half of the season is here, which means some winnable games are there for the taking.

With that being said, Tennessee has opened as a 7.5 point underdog to South Carolina, according to the Action Network.

South Carolina is coming off of a home loss to Texas A&M, which followed a win at home against Missouri. The Gamecocks are 3-3 overall, with losses to Kentucky and Georgia. The South Carolina offense features a couple of playmakers in Deebo Samuel and Bryan Edwards on the outside, but they’ve been limited by some inconsistencies from quarterback Jake Bentley.

Personally, this 7.5 point line seems a little steep. Tennessee seems to be at least close to turning some sort of corner and it wouldn’t surprise me if Saturday’s contest is a back and forth affair.

We’ll have much more on this game as the week goes on.
