Jeremy Pruitt and Tennessee were able to snag a commitment from Independence Community College during last year’s cycle, now they’re after another one in 2019. “Last Chance U” star Emmit Gooden chose the Vols at the end of last season and Jeremy Pruitt is hoping for a similar result with four-star pass rusher Kuony Deng.
The Vols offered Deng on Tuesday, giving the JUCO defender his 16th offer.

Virginia Tech, UCLA, Texas A&M are the main teams in the mix for Deng right now. The Hokies have five crystal ball projections for Deng at this point.
Deng is the 9th ranked JUCO player in the 2019 class and the top ranked outside linebacker prospect. Tennessee has already secured a commitment from the top ranked JUCO inside linebacker prospect Lakia Henry.
The 6-6, 235 pound Deng would certainly fill a need for the Vols, who desperately need help on the edge. Tennessee currently has two three-star commitments on the outside in Jahlil Clemons and Roman Harrison. It’s going to be interesting to see if they can get in the hunt for Deng.
