Tennessee’s upset win over Kentucky on Saturday pushed them one step closer to getting to six wins and a bowl bid. Needed just one win with Missouri and Vanderbilt left, analysts are starting to feel pretty good about the Vols chances to get to the postseason.
Projections around the web
ESPN: Independence Bowl vs. N.C. State
SBNation: Belk Bowl vs. N.C. State
NJ.com: Liberty Bowl vs. Oklahoma State
SDS: Outback Bowl vs. Northwestern
Sports Illustrated: Birmingham Bowl vs. Temple
247 Sports: Liberty Bowl vs. Baylor
First things first, Tennessee obviously has to get one more win. Assuming they get there, the possibilities are pretty wide open from there, as you can see above. Tennessee would be in play for a few pool of six bowls, along with the Birmingham and Independence.
The Vols have played in the TaxSlayer, Outback and Music City bowls in recent seasons, winning all three games under Butch Jones. Just getting to a bowl this year would be a big accomplishment for Jeremy Pruitt, considering where the program was a year ago.
