Report: Hugh Freeze remains ‘real possibility’ to become Tennessee’s offensive coordinator

Hugh is a real possibility, according to Chris Low.

So far Hugh Freeze has been in (reportedly), then out (reportedly), now he’s back in (reportedly).

ESPN’s Chris Low, probably the most trusted SEC reporter out there, says he’s in the mix. In an appearance on the Swain Event, Low was confident that the former Ole Miss head coach was a possibility.

“He’s got several guys on his list and one of those is Hugh Freeze,” Low said. “I think Hugh Freeze is a real possibility. I don’t know if he’s the guy that’s at the head of that list, but he’s somebody that I do expect Jeremy to talk with. I do think he’s in it and will be given serious consideration.

“A lot of people are going to say, what about the baggage? If Jeremy decides that’s who he wants and that’s the best fit, then I think it’ll happen.”

Low mentioned that the SEC might hit Freeze with some sort of recruiting restriction (ex: limited visits with recruits).

He also said coaches like Dan Enos, Freddy Kitchens, Chip Lindsey and Bryan McClendon are guys that Pruitt would like to talk to.

Freeze seemed Tuscaloosa bound last year before the SEC shot down the move. He was also connected to offensive coordinator openings at LSU and Missouri. With another year out of the league under his belt, schools are very likely to try once again to hire the man that was able to beat Nick Saban twice at Ole Miss.
