Tennessee quarterback Will McBride announced on Wednesday night that he would transfer from the university.

This development is not all that surprising, as McBride became the 4th string quarterback by the middle of the season. Freshman J.T. Shrout took over the 3rd string spot and the writing was on the wall.
McBride leaves Tennessee with just 40 pass attempts to his name. Butch Jones decided to burn his redshirt for two appearances in 2017, when he played against Southern Mississippi and Missouri. He redshirted this year and will have at least three more seasons to play in college.
Tennessee’s quarterback room next year will likely consist of Jarrett Guarantano, J.T. Shrout, and incoming recruit Brian Maurer.
