Tennessee rises in AP poll following upset of Gonzaga

The Vols are back in the top five.

Tennessee’s upset of Gonzaga has moved them up in the polls this morning. The Vols jumped from 7th to 3rd in the latest AP Poll. They received one vote for the top team in the nation.

Only Kansas and Duke sit in front of the Vols now.

Tennessee went head to head with Kansas in Brooklyn, coming up just short after Grant Williams fouled out of a tie game with a minute remaining. Nearly the exact same situation happened on Sunday against Gonzaga, only this time Admiral Schofield was able to put Tennessee over the top.

Gonzaga fell from 1st to 4th after the loss. Michigan stayed at 5th, while Virginia fell to 6th.

Looking at the SEC, Auburn held firm in 8th, while Kentucky tumbled all the way to 19th following their loss to Seton Hall. Mississippi State at 18th is the only other SEC team inside of the top 25.
