Report: Graduate-transfer quarterback Keller Chryst to visit Tennessee this weekend

Tennessee is looking to add another passer.

Keller Chryst announced that he would be transferring from Stanford last month to play out his final year of eligibility elsewhere. Dan Wolken of USA Today immediately linked Chryst with Tennessee. It appears that he was spot on.

According to a report today from Bruce Feldman of Sports Illustrated, Chryst “is expected” to visit Tennessee this weekend. That same report linked Tennessee to ECU grad-transfer quarterback Gardner Minshew.

Tennessee currently has Jarrett Guarantano, Will McBride and JT Shrout on the roster with spring practice looming. This new staff has now been connected to three different grad-transfer options.

The report from Feldman says the Chryst isn’t expected to graduate from Stanford until June. Minshew told Feldman that Tennessee says that they haven’t handed out any offers yet. Minshew currently only has an offer from Alabama, but likely wouldn’t have a chance to play for the Tide with Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa already on the roster.

It certainly seems like Tennessee is in a good spot to land Chryst or Minshew. Landing either would shake up the quarterback depth chart, possibly even giving Tennessee a new starter for the 2018 season.
