Tennessee jumps up in this week’s AP Poll

Solid week for the Vols.

NCAA Basketball: Tennessee at Mississippi Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee has jumped up to No. 16 in the AP Poll this week after a 2-0 week. The Volunteers picked up wins over Florida and Ole Miss as the regular season begins to wrap up.

Tennessee was ranked 19th in last week’s poll. The Volunteers are now ranked 14th in KenPom and 12th in RPI.

The Vols jumped Rhode Island, Clemson and Arizona this week. Auburn checked in two spots ahead in 14th, leading the way for the conference. Kentucky re-appeared in the poll at No. 23 this week, giving the SEC three teams inside of the top 25.

Virginia, Michigan State, Xavier, Villanova and Duke are your top five in order.

This is really the last week that we’ll care about the AP Poll. Tennessee will finish with a trip to Mississippi State and then Georgia at home on Saturday. From there, the SEC bracket will be set. Just one week later is Selection Sunday, of course.

It’s almost March and it’s going to be a blast to watch Tennessee play meaningful basketball once again.
