Just three days ahead of national signing day, we’ve got a name to add to your watchlist. It’s Tavion Thomas — an athlete out of Dayton, Ohio.

Thomas likely translates as a running back at the next level, though he’s been listed as a linebacker in the past. At 6-2, 227 pounds, Thomas would give the Vols something that they don’t have on the roster currently — a true downhill, power-back.
He’s listed as a four star prospect by Rivals, checking in as their 10th ranked back in the nation.
With John Kelly headed to the NFL, Tennessee is going to have a much different look in the backfield in 2018. Ty Chandler is likely your new lead back, but Tim Jordan, Trey Coleman and Carlin Fils-Aime will all factor into the equation. We can’t forget about Jeremy Banks either, who Tennessee signed during the early signing period. Tennessee also has Anthony Grant committed, but his situation remains very fluid at this point.
Thomas is also considering Ohio State, Cincinnati and Oklahoma. He decommitted from Oklahoma just last week, directly before a visit with Ohio State.
Tennessee offered Thomas on December 22nd.
