If there was one guy that Tennessee had to hold on to, it was JJ Peterson. The four star linebacker is one of Tennessee’s highest rated commitments. Jeremy Pruitt wrestled Peterson away from Alabama last month, where he was though to be leaning towards.
Alabama didn’t give up though. They made a late push, giving Peterson something to think about over the weekend. It wasn’t enough, however. Peterson signed with Tennessee today, giving everyone a sigh of relief.
Four-star LB JJ Peterson just announced he’s signing with the #Vols. #Tennessee holds off Alabama to land the top-100 prospect.

The 6-1, 230 pound Peterson did a little bit of everything in high school. He likely fits in the middle of Jeremy Pruitt’s new 3-4 defense that he’s brought to Knoxville. It was a place where Tennessee needed more depth and pure talent.
Peterson is 247 Sports’ 48th rated player in the class. He is the number three overall outside linebacker. His signing today makes him the highest rated player in Tennessee’s 2018 class.
