AP Top 25: Tennessee now leads the SEC in the AP poll

Another jump for Tennessee.

NCAA Basketball: Georgia at Tennessee Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The AP Poll doesn’t really matter anymore, but Tennessee made another jump this week. The Volunteers are now ranked 13th in the nation, which is as high as they’ve been all season long.

Tennessee earned a blowout win at Mississippi State, then came home to barely edge out Georgia to capture a share of the SEC regular season championship. They are co-champions of the SEC, sharing that title with the Auburn Tigers.

Speaking of Bruce Pearl’s Tigers, they fell to No. 16 in the AP Poll this week. Auburn still holds the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament, which is set to begin this Wednesday. Both Auburn and Tennessee captured double byes, meaning you won’t see either team until Friday.

Virginia, Villanova, Xavier, Michigan State and Duke are your top five teams this week. Michigan climbed all the way up to No. 7 after their run through the Big Ten Tournament.
