Sunday was a busy day for four-star guard Marcus Watson. The four-star guard saw three head coaches during the day — Georgia Tech’s Josh Pastner, Virginia Tech’s Buzz Williams and Tennessee’s Rick Barnes.
According to 247 Sports, Watson is the 87th ranked player in the 2019 class. The 6-6 shooting guard out of Buford, Georgia has a number of schools after him, including Florida, Georgia and Clemson.
Tennessee hosted 2019 center D.J. Burns last week on an official visit. The Vols will lose Kyle Alexander and Admiral Schofield following next year, opening two scholarships for the 2019-20 team.
Tennessee saw their scholarship situation shift last week as Chris Darrington announced his intention to transfer. That will free up one more spot on the 2018-19 roster, which currently has two vacancies.
Barnes and company have been trying to fill one of those spots with James Akinjo, who decommitted from UConn after Kevin Ollie was fired. Tennessee is expected to get a visit from Akinjo soon.
If Akinjo isn’t the answer, look for the Vols to get involved in the transfer market. They’ve already been connected to a handful of names like Koby McEwen and David Caraher.
