We’re not quite into full-fledged preseason poll season yet, but we do have some post-spring rankings to talk about today. USA Today is the latest to rank the teams from 1-130. It’s fun to follow along from here as teams start to gain hype as we creep closer to the season.
For USA Today, Clemson took the top spot over Alabama in their post-spring rankings. Wisconsin, Washington and Ohio State round out the top five with Georgia checking in at six. Auburn (11), Mississippi State (21) and South Carolina (24) were the only other SEC teams in the top 25.
Tennessee can be found way down in 66th — directly behind Wyoming and MTSU. That’s a ranking that the Vols probably deserve as Jeremy Pruitt tries to right the ship.
“The start of the Jeremy Pruitt era at Tennessee will be a success if it ends in the postseason,” USA Today writer Paul Myerberg said of the Vols.
Tennessee is ranked 11th in the SEC, checking in ahead of Arkansas (69), Kentucky (73) and Vanderbilt (83). With things so uncertain on this 2018 roster, a projected 11th place finish feels realistic. I’ll be pleasantly surprised with anything more as Jeremy Pruitt and his staff begin to develop some talent on the roster.
Are the Vols too low here? Too high? Let us know below.
