Tennessee has landed a commitment from 2018 center D.J. Burns today. The Rock Hill, South Carolina native reclassified from the 2019 class to the 2018 class just a couple of months ago.
Today, he’s chosen the Vols over South Carolina, who were big players in his recruitment.
The 6-9, 248 pound big man is the 103rd ranked player and the 12th ranked center in the 2018 class, according to 247 Sports. He adds immediate bulk and depth to the Tennessee frontcourt, which will see all contributors return from last season.
SEC player of the year Grant Williams is back with fellow starter Kyle Alexander. Reserves Derrick Walker and John Fulkerson will be back as well, along with Zach Kent who received a redshirt for last season. Burns’ size could allow him to crack the rotation early on in his career.
Here’s a quick look at what Burns brings to the table.
