There are few things guaranteed in life, but you can always guarantee that Jeremy Pruitt is going to work his butt off as much as possible, for as long as possible.
His hard work paid off yet again, as Tennessee received a commitment from 3-star Mississippi DE/LB Jalil Clemons. The 6-foot-3 240-pound senior out of Starkville High School announced his decision Sunday after fielding 10 other scholarship offers from different schools.
According to Starkville coach Chris Jones, Clemons is the “best defensive lineman in the state” of Mississippi.
“He just has great get-off speed and the best hands I’ve ever coached,” Jones told Porter. “When he gets his hands on you, it’s over. Jalil has such a high motor. He plays sideline to sideline. He’s 6-foot-2.5, 240, but I think he will grow into a 285-pound guy playing the three-technique when he gets to college.... No one can block Jalil one-on-one. I know that.” - Chris Jones, via 247sports.com

Clemons can play any where at the moment, especially three-technique, but Pruitt’s scheme may suit him better on the edge. Regardless, I’m sure Pruitt will find plenty of use in the highly-talented player.
It’s a popular opinion that Clemons is a potential diamond in the rough and given Pruitt’s history and track record - he may have found the perfect place in Knoxville.
Clemons is Tennessee’s third recruit of the month, joining 4-star S Anthony Harris and 3-star ATH Aaron Beasley. He is the second defensive lineman recruited by the Vols for 2019.
Tennessee is currently No. 18 nationally and No. 9 in the SEC per 247sports composite rankings.
