Vols Basketball: 2019 center to visit Tennessee next week

A new name to watch for 2019.

Rick Barnes continued his work on the 2019 class this week, setting up an on-campus visit for center Jason Jitoboh. Jake Weingarten reported the news earlier this week, via Jitoboh’s AAU coach.

Jitoboh is an in-state prospect out of the Chattanooga area. Standing in at 6-10, 270 pounds, Jitoboh would add some needed size to the Tennessee frontcourt.

The Vols will lose Kyle Alexander after this season, leaving a big hole in the defense. Hopefully by that time, guys like Derrick Walker, D.J. Burns and Zach Kent will be ready to step in and handle big minutes. But adding a 6-10 developmental piece like Jitoboh to that puzzle seems to fit Barnes’ typical plan.

According to 247 Sports, Jitoboh is a three-star prospect. He is the 189th overall prospect in the 2019 class. He currently holds offers from Louisville, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas, West Virginia, Georgia and Clemson.

Tennessee has one commitment so far in the 2019 class, coming from three-star small forward Davonte Gaines out of New York.
