Brant Lawless will not be a Vol after all, according to Austin Price of VolQuest.com. The 2018 signee has requested his release from his letter of intent, which was reportedly granted by Tennessee. Lawless will now explore other opportunities.

Lawless was one of the higher rated prospects in Tennessee’s 2018 class. The four-star defensive tackle comes from the Nashville area. Lawless was the 256th ranked player in the 2018 class and the seventh rated player out of the state of Tennessee, according to 247 Sports.
The 6-3, 285 pound prospect didn’t report to Tennessee last month. According to the report from VolQuest, Lawless was working on finishing things up on the academics side. There was a path for Lawless to join Tennessee at a later time, but Lawless passed and chose to pursue other opportunities.
Tennessee offered Lawless the opportunity for delayed enrollment no matter his academic circumstances, sources confirmed, and while Lawless met his requirements late this summer, he chose look elsewhere in an effort to play this fall. (Via Volquest)
The good news for Tennessee here is that Jeremy Pruitt was able to sign two more defensive tackles in Emmitt Gooden and Kingston Harris. Kurott Garland could also fit that interior defensive lineman mold too.
Lawless has been committed to Tennessee since last summer. Now the search begins for a new landing spot.
