Just a week after his arrest for domestic assault and false imprisonment of his girlfriend, Tennessee has dismissed linebacker Ryan Thaxton, according to a team spokesman.

Thaxton was suspended from the team indefinitely after the charges came to light. After a week long investigation, Thaxton has been officially removed from the team. Head coach Jeremy Pruitt said that domestic violence wouldn’t be tolerated last week at SEC Media Days and he didn’t waste much time making his move here.

Here are the details of the arrest, per the police report.

According to the July 15 police report, Thaxton allegedly pushed his girlfriend down when she refused to accompany him in his room. He then carried his girlfriend inside the room and blocked the door, per the report. (Via Volquest)

Thaxton didn’t play in 2017, taking a redshirt season. He was expected to compete for a backup role this season at outside linebacker. Thaxton was a three-star recruit and a member of the 2017 class.
