A key for any football team at any level is to win in the trenches. To be blunt, Tennessee — for a couple of reasons — hasn’t been able to do that over the past couple of years. As you know by now, the bottom fell out in 2017. One reason why was a lack of depth on the offensive line. That lack of depth was one of a couple of key spots that new head coach Jeremy Pruitt had to fill quickly.
After landing a couple of key pickups at the end of the 2018 recruiting cycle, Pruitt and offensive line coach Will Friend got off to a quick start in 2019. Four-star guard Jackson Lampley had Tennessee off and running while five-star tackle Wanya Morris really solidified the class.
Now the Vols are right in the thick of things for four-star local product Bryn Tucker, who is a part of the 2020 class. The 6-5, 300 pound tackle out of Knoxville Catholic released his top five schools yesterday, which included Tennessee.
Thank you God for staying with me through the process! My focus will be on these schools #WDE #GBO #GoIrish☘️ #GoTigers #GoHokies pic.twitter.com/aCygyyDUwE

Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, LSU and Auburn joined Tennessee in Tucker’s top five.
Tucker is currently a four-star prospect, but checks in inside of 247 Sports’ top 50 overall players for 2019. Tucker has received four crystal ball projections to this point, each looking towards Tennessee as his eventual destination.
Keeping that in-state pipeline moving is a key to sustaining success in big time college football, especially when this kind of talent is popping up in your backyard. That’s something that the previous staff struggled to do and it’s an absolute must for Jeremy Pruitt.
