Tennessee has added former Florida State safety Nate Andrews to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant. Andrews made the announcement on Sunday morning.

The Tennessee-Andrews connection is an obvious one, considering Jeremy Pruitt and Charles Kelly’s time at Florida State as defensive coordinator. In fact, Pruitt served as Andrews’ primary recruiter at Florida State.

Andrews played in 2013 under Pruitt, who led the Seminoles’ defense during that national championship season. He finished his time in Tallahassee playing in Charles Kelly’s defense. He joins Tino Sunseri and Bert Biffani on the staff, who were also with Florida State in 2017.

Andrews finished his time at Florida State last season as a 5th year senior. His playing career showed a lot of promise early as he led the ‘Noles in interceptions for two straight seasons. Injuries derailed him in 2015 and 2016, however.

Now Andrews will shift his focus to climbing up the coaching ladder.
