It’s no mystery that one of the biggest storylines concerning Tennessee football heading into the 2018 season is the quarterback position.
While the Vols return two sophomore quarterbacks in Jarrett Guarantano and Will McBride-both of which saw plenty of action during the 2017 season-it didn’t stop former Stanford quarterback Keller Chryst from using his final year of eligibility to come to Tennessee.
Even with the position up the air half way through fall camp and the possibility that Guarantano is named the starter by week one, Chryst was still named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List on Tuesday.

Chryst spent three seasons at Stanford after being recruited as a 4-star pro-style quarterback out of the 2014 recruiting class. Chryst played in 23 games for the Cardinal, starting in 13 of those games, including 7 last season. In 2017, Chryst tossed for eight touchdowns and four interceptions before transferring to Tennessee.
Other SEC quarterbacks who made the list were Missouri’s Drew Lock, South Carolina’s Jake Bentley, Vanderbilt’s Kyle Shurmer and Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham. The Vols will face all four in 2018.
