Tennessee entered the 2017-18 season picked 13th in the SEC before winning a share of the league’s regular season title en route to an appearance in the SEC Tournament Championship and the NCAA Tournament.
Because of their emergence as one of college basketball’s elite teams, it has garnered a ton of interest in the 2018-19 version of Rick Barne’s Vols, including a top 5 billing according to outlets such as CBS Sports who has Tennessee at No. 4 overall.
With the season starting up in just over three months, Tennessee officially announced their full non-conference and conference slate on Friday.
The schedule features marquee out-of-conference games in home contests with Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and West Virginia at Thompson-Boling Arena, neutral site clashes with Louisville at Madison Square Garden among others in the NIT Season Tip-Off, Gonzaga, an in-state road trip against Memphis just before conference play on Dec. 15.
The Vols will open SEC play on Jan. 5 against Georgia before two straight road match ups at Missouri and Florida. Tennessee will play host to the Gators and Tigers later in the season, as well as other home-and-home games versus South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
Tennessee will open the season on Oct. 31 with a home exhibition game against Tusculum College before the season opener versus Lenoir-Rhyne on Nov. 6.
