It was always going to be tough to pluck 2019 five-star point guard Tre Mann away from the hometown Florida Gators. It wasn’t for a lack of trying on Rick Barnes’ part, but that effort has come up empty.
Mann committed to the Gators last night, taking one of Tennessee’s highest ranked targets off of the board.
Mann earned his fifth star from 247 Sports over the summer, stringing together impressive performances during AAU play. Mann’s recruitment opened up during that time as the 6-3 guard earned an offer from North Carolina. After narrowing his choices to Tennessee, Kansas and Florida, Mann re-opened his recruitment to evaluate his new options.
Today, Mann is off the board.
Where will Rick Barnes turn to from here? You can expect the staff to turn up the heat on five-star combo guards Josiah James and Jalen Lecque. A backup plan could be three-star point guard Issac McBride, who Tennessee offered earlier this month.
