Pruitt on JJ Peterson: “We’re still in a holding pattern”

We’ll have an answer soon.

It’s the Wednesday before the season opener for Tennessee and the Vols still do not have their top rated 2018 signee on campus. Linebacker JJ Peterson has been working to finish up some academic requirements and is currently waiting on word from the NCAA Clearinghouse.

“We’re still in a holding pattern,” Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt said on Wednesday morning. “I’m sure it’s about to get ruled on, so as soon as we know, everyone else will know.”

Rush Propst — Peterson’s high school coach — told 247 Sports that he’s hoping Peterson will be able to leave for Tennessee on Thursday.

Peterson was a top 50 prospect in the class of 2018 — the third rated outside linebacker in the country.

Pruitt has maintained confidence throughout this process that Peterson would be able to join the team. It’s now in the hands of the NCAA, so all we can do it wait a little bit longer.
