Tennessee vs. ETSU: Rocky Top Talk Staff Predictions

Tennessee faces an in-state foe in its home opener.

ETSU Athletics

Tennessee looks to pick up its first win of the season this Saturday when it hosts ETSU in the Vols’ home opener. Here are the predictions from the RTT staff.

Conner Knapp: Tennessee 45, ETSU 13

(Season: 0-1)

It’s ETSU. This shouldn’t be a contest.

Hopefully Tennessee figures out its new offensive line rotation with Brandon Kennedy out and gets out of the game with no injuries.

Terry Lambert: Tennessee 42, ETSU 14

(Season: 1-0)

Tennessee will roll here. The only intrigue in this one will be seeing if the offense can open things up and how the offensive line will shape up without Brandon Kennedy. I’m also interested in seeing if some of the freshmen get more run in what should be a favorable situation.

Evan Winter: Tennessee 38, ETSU 10

(Season: 0-1)

Just like the Vols, I’m starting 0-1 on the season, but should get right back in the saddle with an easy win against the Buccaneers on Saturday. Fortunately for both the team and the fans, it’s not a 12 o’clock kickoff.

Tennessee takes care of business in usual fashion this week.

Noah Taylor: Tennessee 41, ETSU 7

(Season: 1-0)

The Bucs making the trip down from Johnson City offer a much needed tune up game for Tennessee following a 40-14 thumping at the hands of West Virginia last Saturday.

This one should present an opportunity for the Vols to work out some kinks and get their first win of the Jeremy Pruitt era in convincing fashion. Really, the only storyline here is Randy Sanders’ return to Knoxville. I don’t think he’ll be walking back to the tri-cities naked when it’s all said and done.
