Five-star outside linebacker Owen Pappoe has been committed to Auburn since May 1st, announcing his decision alongside of fellow five-star prospect Wanya Morris. Morris, of course, committed to Tennessee and remains the Vols’ highest rated commit so far of the 2019 class.
Pappoe stands as Auburn’s highest rated commit to this point, but he’s not exactly shutting down his recruitment. According to 247 Sports, Pappoe is scheduled to take an official visit to Knoxville in two weeks during the Florida game. Wanya Morris said that he planned on helping the Vols on the trail — there’s little doubt that he had something to do with getting Pappoe on campus.
Pappoe is the 10th ranked player in the entire 2019 class. The five-star linebacker checks in at 6-1, 210 pounds. That size will probably have him playing off of the line of scrimmage, where he can utilize his reported 4.4 speed in the open field.
Tennessee has plenty of work to do here, but it’s a step in the right direction just to get another prospect of Pappoe’s caliber on campus for a visit. It will be Pappoe’s third look at Tennessee. He has already used official visits to LSU, Texas and Penn State. Already committed to Auburn, you would have to figure the Tigers would land his 5th and final official visit.
