There hasn’t been much noise around Tennessee and the class of 2019 quarterbacks since the Vols secured a commitment from Brian Mauer last summer. Mauer, a three-star prospect, has since signed with Tennessee and has enrolled early. The Vols have also picked up a big time commitment from four-star 2020 passer Harrison Bailey since then.
However, all of that hasn’t stopped Tennessee from recruiting Lance LeGendre. The 2019 four-star quarterback will take an official visit this weekend in Knoxville, just a few weeks before signing day on February 6th.
I will be taking an Official visit to the University of Tennessee on the 18th #volswereup #vol19 !!
— Lance LeGendre (@LLeGendre12_) January 14, 2019
LeGendre is a former Kansas commit who decommitted from the Jayhawks following big offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee. LeGendre got his Tennessee offer nearly a full year ago and saw Knoxville for the first time in March, during a junior day event.
According to the 247 Sports Composite, LeGendre is a four-star prospect who ranks 231st nationally in the 2019 class. He is the 5th ranked dual-threat quarterback.
Suddenly, this race seems to be down to Florida State and Tennessee. LeGendre will take his official visit to Tallahassee on the 25th. The Seminoles have yet to land a quarterback so far in the class of 2019, which would seem to make them the leader at this point. The 247 Sports crystal ball projections lean Florida State’s way as well, with the ‘Noles picking up two projections at this point.
With Mauer already signed, this may be a situation where Tennessee sees him playing a position outside of quarterback. This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on over the next three weeks.
