Tennessee offers 2020 quarterback Deuce Hogan

Jim Chaney makes an offer in Texas.

Despite a commitment from highly ranked 2020 quarterback Harrison Bailey, Tennessee made another quarterback offer yesterday. Jim Chaney offered Deuce Hogan while recruiting down in Texas, giving the Iowa commit another option.

Hogan announced the offer on Twitter, thanking Chaney in the tweet.

Hogan committed to the Hawkeyes back in June. He is a four-star prospect and the 13th ranked pro-style passer in the class of 2020. He comes out of Faith Christian in Grapevine, Texas. Hogan holds offers from Baylor, Colorado, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Boston College and Houston.

Tennessee is the 6-4, 190 pound quarterback’s first SEC offer. This offer is interesting, considering Harrison Bailey’s status with the Vols. Bailey is the third ranked pro style passer in the 2020 class and was a huge pull for Jeremy Pruitt over Michigan.

Obviously, this staff isn’t going to do anything to put that in jeopardy. Are they really interested in taking two quarterbacks from this cycle? Is this just the staff covering their bases and laying the foundation for a potential backup plan? Clearly this is a prospect that Chaney likes had some knowledge of before landing in Knoxville.

This is probably a name to file away for down the road. We’ll see how hard the Vols push for Hogan over the summer months.
