Tennessee signee Josiah James named McDonald’s All-American

For the first time in a long time, Tennessee fans will have a reason to watch the McDonald’s All-American game. Five-star Tennessee signee Josiah James was named to the east roster of the all-star event today.

James shocked the recruiting world in the fall, choosing Tennessee over Duke and Clemson. 247’s crystal ball projections were nearly unanimous in favor of Clemson, but James committed to Rick Barnes and Tennessee, citing the staff’s ability to develop players.

The South Carolina native is the 14th ranked player in the 2019 class. James, a 6-6 200 pound combo guard, will have a chance to showcase his abilities against the nation’s best. ESPN2 will carry the game live on March 27th at 7 p.m. eastern.

The last Tennessee commit to play in this game was Tobias Harris, back in 2010.

James will join Tennessee next season, tasked with helping replace some of the production that Admiral Schofield will vacate on the wing. It’s going to be interesting to see how James immediately fits into what should be an experienced, veteran backcourt in 2019-20.
