Tennessee target Charles Moore decommits from Mississippi State

A situation to monitor.

On Monday night during the National Championship, Tennessee target Charles Moore officially announced his decommitment from Mississippi State. Moore had been committed to the Bulldogs since August of 2017, but the four-star defensive lineman never really shut down his recruitment.

Tennessee is just one of the players here, joining Auburn, Florida and LSU. With the recruiting dead period ending this week, Moore will be able to take the final few weeks of January to take visits. He’s already got one scheduled for this weekend with the Gators. Tennessee is expected to get an official visit at some point in the coming weeks.

The 6-4, 270 pound defensive lineman is the 105th ranked player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings for the 2019 class. He’s one of a handful of candidates that could fill Tennessee’s remaining three or four spots.

Tennessee signed three defensive linemen during the early signing period, but it remains a weak spot on the roster. With Kyle Phillips and Shy Tuttle graduating, it’s one of a few spots where the Vols will have some turnover. If early playing time means anything to Moore, Tennessee should be a very attractive destination.
