After the departure of three inside linebackers this season, Tennessee suddenly had a pretty big need at that position to fill in the class of 2020. Tonight, they took a step in the right direction.
Tennessee earned a commitment from four-star linebacker Bryson Eason late on Tuesday night. The 6-2, 250 pound prospect made things official with his announcement on Twitter.

Eason is out of Whitehaven High School in Memphis. He’s a four-star linebacker, ranking 348th overall in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Eason is the 11th ranked player in the state of Tennessee.
He took his official visit to Tennessee on October 4th, then followed that up with an official to Arkansas last weekend. Eason was spotted wearing Tennessee gear on that visit — now just days later, he’s Tennessee’s latest commitment.
Teammates and fellow linebackers Martavius French and Tamarion McDonald now become players to keep an eye on going forward. Each hold offers from the Vols and all three took that official visit together on October 4th. French, a linebacker is the 330th ranked player in the class, while McDonald checks in at 568th.
French decommitted from Arkansas on Sunday, while McDonald just decommitted from Mississippi State tonight.
UPDATE: Both French and McDonald have committed to Tennessee.
With Daniel Bituli exiting the program after this season, that trio could bring some much needed depth back to the linebacker spot in Knoxville.
