After missing out on the commitment of in-state four star defensive lineman Jay Hardy earlier this week, Tennessee was able to recover with a pick up on the defensive front on Friday.
Three-star defensive end Jimari Butler, out of Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama committed to the Vols on Friday afternoon.
Butler made the announcement via Twitter:
Per 247Sports composite rankings, the 6-foot-5, 218 pound Butler is rated as the No. 54 prospect in the state of Alabama and 66th rated defensive end.
Butler held offers from Maryland, Nebraska, TCU and Illinois among others.
With Butler’s commitment, the Vols’ 2020 class is up to nine commits, good for the No. 20 ranked class in the country and No. 8 in the SEC.
