More help up front.

Tennessee has kicked off their morning with a new name to add to the 2020 class — defensive tackle Reginald Perry. The 6-6, 301 pound defensive prospect picked Tennessee over Kentucky, UAB and Georgia Tech.

Perry is out of Fairfield, Alabama. He is the 681st ranked player in the class of 2020 and the 55th ranked defensive tackle prospect, according to 247 Sports.

While Perry won’t wow anyone in the national rankings, he’s got the size that this defensive staff has been looking for up front. In just two classes, Jeremy Pruitt has flipped the entire look of the defensive line, shooting Tennessee up to 29th in total defense by the end of this season. While he hasn’t landed elite talent at that position, bigger bodies have allowed Tennessee to beef up against the run. Perry is the latest example of that.

You can probably expect Perry to become a rotational piece of Tennessee’s defensive line puzzle in a year or two.
