Tennessee went 1-1 over the weekend in Destin, losing an ugly game to Florida State and beating VCU on a Lamonte Turner buzzer beater. That was Tennessee’s second top 25 win of the season, strengthening an early NCAA Tournament resume.
Unfortunately for Tennessee, the lost cost them some ground in the new AP Poll. The Volunteers fell to No. 21 this week, down from last week where they checked in at No. 17. Florida State, the winner of the Emerald Coast Classic, went from unranked to 17th in the new poll.
The biggest mover of the week (maybe of all time?) was Michigan, who jumped from unranked all the way to No. 4. The Wolverines beat North Carolina and Gonzaga convincingly during feast week to enter the new top five.
VCU fell out of the top 25 after taking losses to Tennessee and Purdue.
Louisville took over the top spot after Duke was tripped up by Stephen F. Austin. The Blue Devils tumbled all the way down to the No. 10 spot.
Kentucky moved up to No. 8, while Auburn moved to No. 14 this week, giving us just three SEC teams ranked. Florida narrowly missed the cut.
