It was a good news, bad news type of day for Tennessee. The Volunteers picked up a commitment from four-star defensive tackle Omari Thomas this morning, but have lost one this afternoon.
JUCO cornerback Art Green announced that his recruitment is back open today. The 6-2 cornerback had been committed to Tennessee since May.
Recruitment is 100% back open
— Art Green (@A_JR20) December 9, 2019
Green was once the highest rated JUCO prospect in the 2020 class. He’s tumbled to 11th now, according to the 247 Sports Composite.
Tennessee doesn’t have an immediate need at the position for next year. They should be set to return every contributor from this year’s team, which includes standout Bryce Thompson. Senior Baylen Buchanan may be able to return as well, pending his spine injury checking out over the offseason. Alontae Taylor, Warren Burrell, Kenneth George Jr. and Kenney Solomon round out the rest of that position.
Green holds offers from Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky and several others.
Tennessee is now left with 18 known commitments in the 2020 class, which moved up to No. 18 in the country this morning after the Thomas commitment. Expect that number to change more over the few weeks as the early signing period rapidly approaches.
