Five-star receiver Rakim Jarrett plans Tennessee visit

Big time player at a big position of need.

Rakim Jarrett SBNation Recruiting

After missing on a couple of receiver targets down the stretch of the 2019 recruiting cycle, receiver has been left as one of the primary positions of need in the 2020 class. Jeremy Pruitt and his staff have added only Cedric Tillman, Ramel Keyton and Jerrod Means since arriving in Knoxville. With Marquez Callaway and Jauan Jennings entering their senior season, this position needs more numbers and talent.

Enter five-star target Rakim Jarrett. The Washington D.C. product has the attention of the entire country early in the 2020 recruiting cycle, including the Vols. Tennessee offered Jarrett in May of last year. They’ll now get him on campus for an official visit to open spring practice.

Jarrett will get one of the first looks at Jim Chaney’s new offense at Tennessee.

The 6-0, 182 pound prospect is the third-ranked receiver in the 2020 class. He’s the 23rd overall player in the class, according to the 247 Sports Composite. Jarrett has his pick of just about any school in the country. Offers include Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Georgia — you get the picture.

Jarrett saw Georgia last weekend after picking up an offer from the Bulldogs in January. He saw Clemson and Ohio State before that and camped with Alabama last summer.

The crystal ball projections from 247 Sports point towards Ohio State as the early leader for Jarrett.
