Tennessee falls in AP Poll after loss to LSU

Another drop for the Vols.

Another loss, another drop in the AP top 25 on Monday.

Tennessee fell in overtime to LSU on Saturday on a dramatic, last-second foul call that sent the Tigers to the free throw stripe with 0.6 seconds left. The Vols had their chances to bury LSU, up by nine points with six minutes remaining. The defense faltered once again, handing the Vols their third loss of the year.

As a result, Tennessee dropped from No. 5 to No. 7 in the AP Poll this week. North Carolina and Michigan State hopped over Tennessee after big wins over Duke and Michigan, respectively.

Last week’s No. 1 team, the Duke Blue Devils, dropped to third after losing to the Tar Heels without Zion Williamson. That sent Gonzaga to the top of the charts once again, currently in the thick of their incredibly soft West Coast Conference schedule.

Kentucky, who will visit Thompson-Boling Arena this weekend, stayed put at fourth in the polls.
