Four-star center Cooper Mays to visit Tennessee this weekend

You’ll probably recognize the name.

A name you’re probably already familiar with will be on the Tennessee campus this weekend. Cooper Mays — the brother of Cade and the son of Kevin — is one of Tennessee’s biggest offensive line targets of the 2020 cycle. This week he announced that he’ll be in Knoxville over the weekend.

By now you know the story with Cade Mays. The former Tennessee commit ended up at Georgia during the Vols’ firing of Butch Jones. That bridge was burned for Jeremy Pruitt upon arrival. Now he’s got a shot at landing little brother Cooper.

Cooper Mays isn’t the elite prospect that his big brother was, but just this week he was elevated to a four-star by 247 Sports. Mays is now the 5th ranked center prospect in the country, landing at 292nd overall in the 2020 class. Mays checks in at 6-3, 278 pounds.

Mays saw Tennessee back in January for a Junior Day event. He also visited during the Charlotte and Florida games last season. Of course, Tennessee has some competition from Georgia, who has been coming after Cooper just as hard. Mays visited Georgia at least five times in 2018. Joining his brother in Athens would be an obvious bonus, but his path to the field is probably a little clearer at Tennessee.

This battle will be one of the main 2020 storylines to follow.
