College Basketball Polls: Tennessee remains at the top

Another week at No. 1 for Tennessee.

NCAA Basketball: Tennessee at Texas A&M John Glaser-USA TODAY Sports

It’s another week at the top for the Tennessee Volunteers. Road games at South Carolina and at Texas A&M pushed Tennessee in the middle portions of both games, but the Vols brought out the hammer late and ended up with two blowout wins.

Tennessee is now 20-1, still a perfect 8-0 in SEC play. Following LSU’s loss on Saturday, Tennessee is now the only undefeated team in the league. Both LSU and Kentucky sit at 7-1, tied for second place.

The Vols received 48 first place votes, topping Duke, which earned 12. Virginia, Gonzaga and Kentucky rounded out the top five of the AP Poll. LSU is the only other ranked SEC team, checking in at No. 21. Both Mississippi State and Auburn received votes, but did not make the top 25 this week.

Michigan fell two spots to 7th after losing to Iowa on Friday night, while Michigan State tumbled to 9th after being upset by Indiana on Saturday.

Up next this week for Tennessee will be two home games against two repeat opponents — Florida and Missouri.
