Tennessee in top three for 2019 three-star center Jason Jitoboh

Another interesting recruiting development.

We wrote yesterday about Tennessee being in the mix for a 2019 forward out of Germany. That was a bit of a surprise. This development is less of a surprise. Tennessee has landed in the top three of Jason Jitoboh, a three-star center out of Chattanooga.

Tennessee has been in the mix with Jitoboh for some time and got him on campus for a visit during the Kentucky game. They now land in his top three, which also included UCF and Florida.

As we pointed out yesterday, Tennessee is full as things stand now. Josiah James, Davonte Gaines and Drew Pember will fill up the Vols’ vacant scholarship positions, but more could open up. Grant Williams (and maybe Jordan Bone?) has to decide on the NBA Draft. If a spot opens on Tennessee’s roster, Jitoboh is one of the top options for this staff.

The 6-10, 270 pound center is the 238th ranked player in the country, according to 247 Sports. He would likely serve as a bit of a project for Tennessee, but as we’ve seen in the past — Rick Barnes’ ability to develop players is second to none.

Once again, it’s possible that transfer season plays a factor in this. Tennessee could use another veteran big if Williams does opt for the NBA. There’s a lot to sort out, but the Vols’ options on the recruiting trail are starting to become clear.

Here’s a look at Jitoboh.
