One of the highest rated prospects on Tennessee’s board during the 2020 recruiting cycle is Reggie Grimes, a five-star pass rusher out of Mount Juliet, Tennessee. The 6-4, 240 pound edge prospect is an Alabama legacy, but the Vols have been working on eating into the Tide’s lead for Grimes since Jeremy Pruitt arrived at Tennessee.
On Monday, Tennessee cracked the top six for Grimes. Alabama, Florida State, LSU, South Carolina and Vanderbilt joined the Vols.

Interestingly enough, Clemson wasn’t on the list. Grimes explained why, saying that the Tigers were full at the position. First world problems, right?
Grimes is the 28th rated prospect overall in the class of 2020, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He is the clear top prospect in the state of Tennessee, playing at a big time position of need for the Vols.
Grimes’ father played at Alabama in the 90s. Because of that, Reggie admits growing up as an Alabama fan. That connection is likely why you see Alabama with an early lead in the crystal ball projections from 247 Sports.
In recent weeks, Grimes has seen South Carolina, Ole Miss and Florida State. Grimes was on campus at Tennessee last in January, visiting during a junior day.
