Tennessee makes the cut for four-star defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy

Another defensive lineman to watch.

On the same day that four-star defensive lineman Darrion Henry included the Tennessee Volunteers in his top six, four-star defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy has included the Vols in his top ten. Roy released his top schools on Monday morning.

Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State and Oklahoma each joined Tennessee on the list.

Roy is a 6-3, 289 pound defensive tackle prospect out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He’s the 65th ranked prospect in the country, according to the 247 Sports composite. Roy is the second ranked player out of the state of Louisiana and the fourth ranked defensive tackle in the nation.

Coming out of Baton Rouge, LSU is the obvious favorite to land Roy. 247 Sports’ crystal ball projections reflect that, with the Tigers currently holding each of the four crystal ball projections. However, Roy committed to the Tigers last fall, only to decommit from them in February. New offers from Georgia, Alabama and Oklahoma could have played into that decision.

Since opening things back up, Roy has seen Knoxville twice on unofficial visits. Tennessee absolutely has a big need on the defensive line and Roy is a name that you’ll probably want to pay attention to over the next few months.
