We’ve talked a lot about Tennessee’s need at receiver with Jauan Jennings and Marquez Callaway on their way out this year. The Vols will be okay in 2020 with Josh Palmer likely returning, along with Ramel Keyton and now with Deangelo Gibbs in the fold. But Tennessee needs better numbers at the position.
One of the higher ranked options for Tennessee is E.J. Williams, a 6-3, 188 pound receiver out of Phenix City, Alabama. After seeing Tennessee for the first time on March 2nd, Williams is planning a return on April 13th during the Orange and White Game.

Williams is a top 100 player in the 2020 class, checking in at 90th overall. He is the 2nd ranked player out of the state of Alabama and the 19th rated receiver in the class, according to 247 Sports.
In order to land Williams, Tennessee is going to have to beat out the Clemson Tigers — something they’ve failed to do in recent years with elite receivers like Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers. Clemson currently holds all four votes in the crystal ball projection for Williams.
Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State are also in the mix here.
Here’s a look at what Williams can do on the field. He kind of gives a feel similar to Ramel Keyton — great size and a long strider that can win down the field at the catch point.
