Tennessee running back Carlin Fils-Aime out until July with a leg injury

Some depth lost for the rest of the spring.

Between Tennessee’s NCAA Tournament run and UCLA coming after Rick Barnes, Orange and White Game week has crept up on us this year. Jeremy Pruitt is putting the finishing touches on his final week of spring ball, which will culminate on Saturday night with the annual spring game in Neyland Stadium.

“To start with, Carlin Fils-aime has been out for the spring now,” Pruitt said on Tuesday. “He had to have a procedure on his leg.”

Fils-aime is expected to compete for the third running back role, slotting in behind Tim Jordan and Ty Chandler for now. He will be competing with true freshman Eric Gray and sophomore Jeremy Banks for carries this fall.

You may remember Fils-aime spending time at the cornerback position at this time last spring. He flipped back to the offensive side of the ball during the season, eventually getting seven carries at the end of his junior season.

Now a senior, he’ll have to nurse an injury back to health this summer.

“He’ll be back ready to go in July,” Pruitt said. “It’s unfortunate for him. He was having a really good spring. Being a senior, his last go-round, I know he was frustrated with it, but it was something that needed to be done, and he’ll be back better than ever.”

Fils-aime has 52 carries for 309 yards over the last three seasons.
