2020 CB Art Green Commits to Tennessee

Fresh off a visit to Knoxville.

Well, that didn’t take long.

Earlier this morning, we updated fans on 2020 JUCO cornerback Art Green taking a visit to Knoxville. Green is a 6-2, 200 pound defensive back out of Hutchinson Community College, which is known for the number of football players that enter Division-I from its ranks.

Green’s recruitment began to blow up over the past two months. In short order, he received offers from the likes of Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Georgia, Oklahoma State, and more. Tennessee intrigued him enough that he took a visit this past weekend.

It was apparently enough to convince him to come aboard. Green announced Monday afternoon that he has committed to Tennessee.

Green is currently unranked by 247Sports and does not have a 247Sports Composite rating. That isn’t unusual for someone in the JUCO ranks this early in the year. If the list of offers is any indication, Green might end up as the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the nation.

One look at his highlight tape shows why Green might be highly sought after. For someone with his size, Green moves pretty quickly and looks fluid doing it. He also plays like a 6-foot-2 cornerback should: with aggressiveness and a love of contact. He clearly fits what Pruitt wants from his corners, and truthfully he could see looks at safety down the road.

Green is the seventh commit of the 2020 Tennessee recruiting class. Since he is unranked, he does not affect the class ranking in 247Sports. It will stay that way for a while until Green’s ranking finally catches up with his offers.

Considering Jeremy Pruitt’s track record with scouting and finding underrated defensive talent (see: Roman Harrison), fans should not be concerned about a ranking this early in the cycle. Green looks like he might be an immediate contributor at the Power-Five level.
