Tennessee secured a commitment from an unranked JUCO player yesterday. Today, that same player is the No. 1 ranked cornerback and the 2nd overall JUCO player in the class of 2020, according to a new update from 247 Sports.

Art Green chose to play at the University of Tennessee on Monday, following his official visit over the weekend. The 6-2 cornerback has some outstanding tape and production in just one year of junior college ball, but his recruiting ranking (or lack of one) didn’t match that. Green held offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Our own Clint Eiland speculated yesterday that Green may end up as the No. 1 JUCO cornerback in the nation when it’s all said and done. Hours later, that was the case.

Green will offer immediate help in the secondary and will allow Pruitt and defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley to play matchups in 2020. He has the length and ball skills to be a true difference maker on the outside. During his freshman season at Hutchinson Community College, Green hauled in six interceptions.

Here’s a look at what Tennessee is getting in Green.

After the bump for Green, Tennessee has hopped up to 22nd overall in the 2020 recruiting rankings, according to 247 Sports. The Vols only have seven commitments to this point, but four of those seven are now four-star prospects.
