A badly needed reinforcement.

It’s safe to say that Rick Barnes and staff had a plan for Grant Williams staying in the NBA Draft. Just hours after Williams made that news official, Tennessee picked up a transfer from seven foot big man Uros Plavsic.

Plavsic is a legitimate seven footer, checking in at 240 pounds. He’s originally from Serbia, but he was a part of Arizona State’s roster in 2018-19. Plavsic redshirted last season for the Sun Devils, but Tennessee will need to secure a waiver in order for him to play immediately.

Tennessee saw Derrick Walker transfer, Kyle Alexander graduate and Grant Williams move on to the NBA. They secured a commitment from four-star forward Olivier Robinson-Nkamhoua and now have added some big time size into the rotation.

John Fulkerson, D.J. Burns and Zach Kent make up the rest of the frontcourt for the Vols.

Plavsic was a four-star prospect in the 2018 class, according to 247 Sports. He was the 120th ranked player in that cycle and the second highest rated player out of the state of Tennessee. With only a redshirt year under his belt, Plavsic should have four years of eligibility remaining.

Tennessee now waits on a final NBA decision from Jordan Bone, who said this week that he would announce his final decision on May 29th.
